Pak nationals march on Parliament in South Africa after 4 killed
Johannesburg: To protest against the killing of four Pakistani nationals, people from Pakistan and South Africa marched here on the Parliament a day ahead of the country's public holiday on Human Rights Day.
Muhammad Safique (42), Adnan Haider (24), Shahzad Ahmad (22) and Baqar Ghulam (24), who were working at a bakery in Cape Town, were gunned down on Tuesday evening over suspected business rivalry.
Pakistanis and Bangladeshis who run small shops in Black townships are frequently targeted because they keep their cash with them, Mohammed Faraaz from Pakistan alleged.
Bilal Rana, a cousin of two of the deceased, said he did not believe this was just a robbery.
"They were specifically targeted because they were running a very good business here. There were many others who were jealous of them."
Police have arrested one suspect after they linked an earlier car hijacking to the incident.
Plans were under way to repatriate the bodies of the four men to Pakistan for burial.
