Traders shut down shops for removal of CRPF bunker in J&K
Srinagar: Markets in parts of old city were closed down for an indefinite period with traders demanding removal of three CRPF bunkers in the area which they claim hamper free movement of people.
Shops and other business establishments between Bohrikadal to Safakadal areas on the Nallahmar road were shutdown by traders this morning.
The protesting traders are demanding removal of security bunkers at Bohrikadal, Kawdara and Rajouri Kadal.
They claimed that the presence of these bunkers was hampering free movement of the traffic, besides creating fear psycosis among the people.
"The markets will only open after these three bunkers are removed," Zahoor Ahmad, a shopkeeper said.
He said the local traders association has decided to continue the shutdown in a peaceful manner till their demand is met.
More than 40 security bunkers were removed from different parts of Srinagar following recommendations of an all-party delegation that visited the Valley in the aftermath of 2010 summer unrest.
