Explosion injures three in Pulwama

Srinagar: Three persons were injured on Tuesday in an explosion at the place of yesterday's gunbattle between security forces and militants at Tral in Kashmir's Pulwama district in which three ultras and a cop were killed.

"Before the Bomb Disposal Squad could sanitize the (encounter) spot, some people rummaged through the debris leading to a minor explosion," a police spokesman said.

Mohammad Shafi, Khurshid Ahmad and Wasif Ahmad suffered injuries in the explosion, he said adding they were admitted to a hospital.

The people were cautioned through repeated announcements late last night and early this morning not to venture near the encounter site, the spokesman said.

Three Hizbul Mujahideen militants and a policeman were killed and three security force personnel wounded in the gunfight in Tral's Midura area, 35-km from here, yesterday.
