Chandigarh: A woman on Saturday hanged herself from a ceiling fan at her paying guest accommodation in Phase 3, Mohali.
The 33-year-old woman, who hailed from Amritsar, was a fashion designer working with a private firm in Phase 8B. She has been identified as Sharanjit Kaur.
In a suicide note, she cited depression as the reason for her taking such an extreme step. It was after her roommate returned home in the evening, Kaur's body was discovered.
According to police, her divorce proceedings had been going on for the last two years.
Kaur's father is a retired government employee and used to work with the Public Works Department.
"The woman was upset for the past few months. Her parents have been informed.” The woman’s father retired from the public works department," said a police official who is probing the case.
