Captain killed two birds with one stone: Jha

He said that Captain played a masterstroke by giving ticket to Jakhar without the consent of former Gurudaspur MP and Rajya Sabha MP Pratap Singh Bajwa.

Pathankot: Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has killed two birds with one stone by fielding Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar for the Gurudaspur Lok Sabha bypoll, BJP national vice-president Prabhat Jha said today.

Addressing the media here after induction of AAP leader Joginder Singh Chhina into the BJP, he said that Captain played a masterstroke by giving ticket to Jakhar without the consent of former Gurudaspur MP and Rajya Sabha MP Pratap Singh Bajwa.

Bajwa also held the post of the chief of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee.

"Captain has not only managed to sideline Bajwa on his home turf but also initiated the process of ending Jakhar's political career as he is bound to lose the Gurdaspur bypoll", Jha claimed.

Taking a dig a Jakhar, he said, "While Swarn Salaria's victory was imminent, Jakhar's own party leaders were working hard to ensure that he loses."

On the issue of demonetisation, Jha said the BJP stands for the poor and marginalised. 'Garib ke chehre par muskaan, BJP ki yahi pehchan' (BJP's real identity is the smile on the face of poor), he said.
