ALWAR: Rajasthan Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria on Wednesday said that if someone kills anyone, he must not be branded as 'gau rakshak' but as a convict.

The Minister made the statement while speaking on the recent incident in Alwar where a man was killed by alleged cow vigilantes in Govindgarh on Friday. Briefing on the incident, he said that investigation is on and two have already been arrested.

The Home Minister had recently said that the state government does not enough manpower to control every situation in all cities in time.

Thirty-five-year-old Umar died in the firing while others sustained bullet injuries. As per the victim's family, three persons were transporting some cows from Alwar to a village in Bharatpur. When they reached near Govindgarh, they were stopped by some "gau rakshaks" (cow vigilantes) and attacked with firearms.

Though the police, which initially remained tight-lipped about the incident, has registered an FIR in this connection and started a probe into the matter.

A case of cow smuggling had been filed in connection with the incident.
