Navratri 2017: Day 9 – Seek Maa Siddhidatri’s blessings to make wishes comes true

Mumbai: During the festive fervour of Navratri (the nine-day long festival), Maa Siddhidatri is worshipped on the ninth day. The goddess is the ninth form of Durga. Siddhi means meditative ability or power to fulfil, and Dhatri means giver or awarder. Maa Siddhidatri is believed to bless her devotees by fulfilling all of their aspirations.

The ninth day of Navratri is spent worshipping Siddhidatri, a form of Durga who is known for her wish-fulfilling capabilities. The goddess is believed to possess several kinds of healing powers. In this form, goddess Siddhidatri is seen as having four hands holding a discus, conch shell, trident and mace, sitting on a fully bloomed lotus or a lion.

Here, chant this mantra of Maa Siddhidatri:

सिद्ध गन्धर्व यज्ञद्यैर सुरैर मरैरपि |

सेव्यमाना सदा भूयात्‌ सिद्धिदा सिद्धि दायिनी ||
