New Delhi: The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) Tuesday announced that the women's relay teams in both 4x100m and 4x400m were cleared for the Asian Games starting Friday but there would be re-trials for triple jumpers Mayookha Johnny, Renjith Maheshwary and men's 4x400 relay team.

However, it looks tough for shot putter Om Prakash Karhana, who injured himself just before the retrial and the AFI is now awaiting his medical report.

The trials were held at Patiala Monday and the AFI has given clearance to the women's 4x400m relay team and the 4x100m relay team for the Asian Games. But the performance of the men's 4x400m relay team was found to be below par and the selection committee after deliberation with the chief coach Bahadur Singh and other coaches decided to give another chance Thursday.

Mayookha and Maheshwary did not meet the qualifying levels and will have another chance Thursday.

The last batch of athletes will be leaving for the South Korean city of Incheon Sep 21, six days before the track and field competition commences.

Last month, the AFI's selection committee had selected a 56-member team for the Asiad, based on their performance in the qualification championships, but had asked for a fitness trial to be held for some of the disciplines.
