Incheon: India suffered a huge blow at the Asian Games Tuesday when their best weightlifting medal hope Sathish Kumar Sivalingham was forced to pull out of the men`s 77kg class through illness.

The Commonwealth Games champion has been suffering with sore throat and a fever for three days, according to coach Paramjit Singh.

"He cannot drink or eat as his throat is so sore. He has a high fever and is shivering," Paramjit told AFP.

The men`s 77kg takes place on Tuesday and Sivalingham had been expected to be in contention for at least a bronze medal.
