Incheon: Indian rowers produced a creditable performance on the opening day of competitions at the Asian Games with two teams making it to the finals here Saturday.

The women's pair team of Sanjukta Dung Dung qualified for the final despite finishing sixth in the heat number one by clocking 8:24.48 to cover a distance of 2000m at Chungju Tangeum Lake Rowing Center here.

The final will be held on September 24.

In lightweight men's double sculls event, Roopendra Singh and Manjeet Singh finished second in heat number one with a timing of 6:44.51 over the 2000m distance to qualify for the final which will also be held on September 24.

In lightweight women's quadruple sculls, the quartet of Dittymol Vargheese, Khumanthem Monalisha Chanu, Thangjam Chaoba Devi and Manjula Xess finished fourth in heat number one and they will have to compete in the repechage round.

In lightweight men's single sculls, Dushiant Dushyant finished second in heat number two by covering the 2000m distance in 7:23.94 behind Hakbeom Lee of South Korea (7:19.45).

Dushyant was leading till the 1500m distance mark but lost steam in the last 500m with the South Korean overtaking him in the final stretch.
