Himachal government on Saturday announced cash prizes of Rs 20 lakh each to three kabaddi players from the state who were members of the gold medal-winning Indian men and women's teams at the 17th Asian Games in South Korea.

Shimla: Himachal government on Saturday announced cash prizes of Rs 20 lakh each to three kabaddi players from the state who were members of the gold medal-winning Indian men and women's teams at the 17th Asian Games in South Korea.

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh announced at Dussehra festival at Sunni, 65-km from here, that Kavita Thakur from Manali, Pooja Thakur from Jukhala in Bilaspur district and Ajay Thakur from Nalagarh in Solan district would be given cash prizes for their performance at the Incheon Asian Games which concluded today.

He also announced cash prize of Rs 10 lakh to shooter Vijay Kumar from Hamirpur district for winning silver medal in Incheon.

The Chief Minister said that his government was keen to develop sports infrastructure in the state and all necessary facilities were being provided to the players.
