Tickets for IPTL are highly affordable for tennis fans, confirms Lara Dutta

Hours after a leading English daily posted a news speculating exporbitant ticket price for the forthcoming International Premier Tennis League (IPTL), Bollywood actress Lara Dutta, who is also the wife of tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi - the Managing Director of the league – slammed the report and said, the tickets would be affordable for the tennis fans in India.

New Delhi: Hours after a leading English daily posted a news speculating exporbitant ticket price for the forthcoming International Premier Tennis League (IPTL), Bollywood actress Lara Dutta, who is also the wife of tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi - the Managing Director of the league – slammed the report and said, the tickets would be affordable for the tennis fans in India.

A leading daily had reported a news where it said that lowest three-day pass would cost around INR 12,000.

Lara Dutta slammed the report saying Indian tennis fans, who are anxiously waiting to watch the likes of Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, will get the tickets at affordable prices.

 

After Lara's tweet, Bhupathi tagged the Twitter account of the newspaper which had published the news, in her tweet.

In another tweet, Lara confirmed that the prices of the tickets would be released later in the day starting from Rs 3,250 for a three-day pass.

Notably, in what was one of the greatest moments for Indian tennis fans, 17-time Grand Slam champion Federer confirmed to play in IPTL where he replaced Rafael Nadal for the Indian Aces team. Nadal withdrew from the tournament due to injury. The Swiss legend will also lead Indian team.

Other big names who will play for the Indian Aces are Pete Sampras, Gael Monfils, Ana Ivanovic and Fabrice Santoro. Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna are the two Indian players in the squad. World No. 1 Novak Djokovic and women’s World No. 1 Serena Williams will also be present, playing for UAE Falcons and Singapore Lions respectively.

Other world class players who will be a part of the league are Andy Murray, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Maria Sharapova, Eugenie Bouchard and Lleyton Hewitt. The league is scheduled to be played across four locations. Philippines will kick off proceedings, followed by Singapore, India and UAE. The India leg will be held from 6th to 8th December 2014 in Delhi.
