Viswanathan Anand vs Magnus Carlsen – Game 4, World Chess Championship

New Delhi: Viswanathan Anand takes on Magnus Carlsen in the 4th game of the World Chess Championship.

While Carlsen has been in sensational form in World Chess Championship against Anand of late, his on-the-board creativity was not to be seen on Tuesday where Anand registered a must-needed win.

Now that the scores are level at 1.5 each after Anand registered a thumping win over Carlsen in the third game, the fourth game has become all the more interesting.

LIVE GAME 4:

After he suffered yet another defeat at the hands of Norwegian Magnus Carlsen in the second game of the ongoing World Chess Championship, the Indian fans knew Viswanathan Anand was under tremendous pressure.

The Indian fans waited with bated breath as Anand took on Carlsen in the third game of the tournament.

When it mattered most, Anand once again showed his class by ending a four-year drought by beating Carlsen in Classical chess game as the last victory by five times world champion over the Norwegian had come way back in 2010 under this format.

Anand registered a fascinating win in 34 moves of Queens Indian Defence, levelling the 12-game match 1.5-1.5 after three games at Winter Olympics media centre in Sochi (Russia).

Even at the post match conference, the 23-year-old looked quite upset with the result and found it difficult to answer a barrage of questions about his defeat. The Norwegian, like any other champion, hates to lose and thus the fourth game is expected to be another gruelling contest.

In the fourth game on Wednesday, Carlsen will play with white pieces.
