Raina, Jadeja spat blown unnecessarily out of proportion, says Sunil Gavaskar

New Delhi: Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar believes that the spat between Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja has been misunderstood. In his column for a daily, Gavaskar wrote, “"On the field, in pressure situations, sometimes the release valve is often misunderstood from the outside and deliberately so.” He further advised the media to not blow the issue unnecessarily and out of proportion just to grab eyeballs. “The bantering between Jadeja and Raina is momentary too. Indian cricket needs support and understanding and trying to create rift for headlines and eyeballs is total unnecessary," he wrote. Earlier, Jadeja and Raina apologised for their spat during the ongoing tri-series match against the West Indies, which sparked off a debate about lack of harmony in the Indian dressing room. The incident happened after Raina failed to take Sunil Narine`s catch on two occasions. Jadeja, after dismissing Narine with the penultimate delivery of the 34th over, rushed towards Raina and said a few harsh things to which the left-handed batsman reacted angrily before skipper Virat Kohli intervened.
