SCORECARD» I COMMENTARY» ==================================================================================== PAKISTAN: OVERS: 13.5 II SCORE: 45/3 Pakistan have won the match by seven wickets and that’s a major upset! South Africa have been outclassed in all departments of the game and Pakistan have been the better of the two sides. But it wasn’t an easy chase for Pakistan as they needed 40 runs to win but lost three quick wickets with just seven runs on the board. Once again, Misbah had to do the rescue work as he added unbeaten 38 runs for the fourth wicket along with Younis Khan to seal the first Test. ==================================================================================== SOUTH AFRICA: OVERS: 82.4 II SCORE: 232/10 South Africa have finally been bowled out by Pakistan at the score of 232. They were leading by 39 runs. Ajmal picked the remaining two wickets of successive deliveries in the 85th over. The first one to depart was Philander caught by wicketkeeper Adnan Akmal after edging the third delivery from Ajmal. Next man in Morne Morkel walked back immediately for a first ball duck after offering a simple return catch to Ajmal. Tea has been taken and afterwards, Pakistan will have to score 40 runs to win this first Test. ==================================================================================== SOUTH AFRICA: OVERS: 80 II SCORE: 220/8 Pakistan finally got rid of AB de Villiers after he was caught by Shan Masood at cover off Junaid Khan. He scored 90(157b, 4X7, 6X1). Vernon Philander came in next. With a single off the first delivery of the 73rd over, SA went ahead taking the lead. Four runs came in that over. Peterson scored his first boundary off the innings in the 77th over, bowled by Ajmal. His next came four came in the following over of Babar via switch-hit. The 80th over by Babar was a maiden. ==================================================================================== SOUTH AFRICA: OVERS: 70 II SCORE: 188/7 Runs are now coming more easily for South Africa now. Three runs came in the 61st over while the next resulted in six runs. De Villiers collected his sixth boundary employing a sweep off Babar’s fifth delivery of the 64th over. Misbah brought Junaid Khan back into the attack in the 65th over and five runs were added in it. Off his next over, 12 runs were scored – 4 byes, two doubles and one boundary to de Villiers. A triple off the first delivery of the next over took the current partnership past fifty runs. ==================================================================================== SOUTH AFRICA: OVERS: 60 II SCORE: 147/7 Babar began the proceedings of the second session and gave away two runs. Ajmal’s sixth delivery of the next over proved to be Plessis’ last as he was brilliantly caught by the bowler. He scored 9 (55b, 4X1). Robin Peterson came in to bat next. Six runs came off the next two – three in each. De Villiers struck his fifth boundary off the sixth delivery of 60th over, bowled by Babar through point. ==================================================================================== SOUTH AFRICA: OVERS: 55 II SCORE: 130/6 LUNCH. The 51st over by Ajmal was his seventh maiden of the innings. Irfan came back to bowl in the 53rd over which was a maiden. De Villiers reached his fifty with a six off Babar in the next. Seven runs came in it. Just a single came in the final over before lunch. Pakistan picked up two South African wickets in the first session of the fourth day’s play. ==================================================================================== SOUTH AFRICA: OVERS: 50 II SCORE: 121/6 Junaid Khan struck for Paksitan off his sixth delivery of the 41st over by trapping JP Duminy in front. Duminy went back to the dressing room without disturbing the scoreboard. Three runs and a wicket in the over. His departure brought Faf du Plessis to the middle. No run was scored in the next 27 deliveries. It was de Villiers who broke the deadlock with a single in the 46th over. He later scored his third boundary in the 48th over, bowled by Babar, through extra cover region. ==================================================================================== SOUTH AFRICA: OVERS: 40 II SCORE: 106/5 Mohd Irfan began the proceedings from Pakistan’s end on the fourth day with AB de Villiers and Dale Steyn taking guard. A positive start to the day as de Villiers struck the fourth delivery past square leg region for a boundary. Spin from other end as Saeed Ajmal came in to bowl his first over of the day and it was seen safely by Steyn. The duo wasn’t allowed easy runs by the pair of Ajmal and Irfan. The first change came in Junaid Khan who was introduced in the 33rd over. The next boundary came in the 35th over, bowled by Junaid, thanks to an outside edge from the bat of de Villiers. Zulfiqar Babar was introduced in the 38th over and he got Pakistan the wicket of Steyn. It was the third delivery and bowled on a full length. Steyn charged forward and missed it as the ball crashed on the stumps. He scored 7 (49b). JP Duminy came in to bat next. That over was a wicket-maiden. ==================================================================================== Pakistan`s lethal mixture of pace and spin caught world number one Test team South Africa napping on the third day of the first Test in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. South Africa lost four top-order batsmen against a spirited Pakistan and they now need another 121 runs to avoid an innings defeat and concede the lead in the two-Test series. AB de Villiers was unbeaten on 11 and with him nightwatchman Dale Steyn on nought on a day when Pakistan captain Misbah-ul Haq scored his fourth Test hundred and then sent his rivals into submission. Pakistan removed Alviro Petersen (17), Graeme Smith (32) and Jacques Kallis (nought) by the 19th over and then first innings centurion Hashim Amla for ten to move closer to a big victory when bad light curtailed play seven overs early.
