New Delhi: While picking the list of 30 probables for the forthcoming 2015 Cricket World Cup, India national selectors dumped all the five discarded seniors – Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Zaheer Khan, Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh – who played crucial roles in the victorious Indian team four years ago.
Though in recent past, most of these ageing cricketers from Sehwag to Harbhajan, were quite vocal and hopeful about making the cut in the world cup probables list.
However, no one performed consistently well at the domestic level to impress Sandeep Patil-led five-member panel.
Yuvraj, who won the Man of the Series for his outstanding performance with both bat and ball in the last edition of the ICC World Cup in 2011, too looked out of sorts and failed to score big in first class cricket.
It was certainly a D-day for all these ageing cricketers, who have been struggling to make a return into the Indian national side for quite some time now, in any format of the game.
When it comes to age, they fall on the wrong side of 30s and are certainly well past their prime.
Besides the World Cup snubbing, another thing which looks inevitable here is that their international careers are seemingly over.
Here is the complete list of 30 probables who have been picked for the 2015 World Cup:
