Ajinkya Rahane's red-hot form continues, slams ton for Mumbai

New Delhi: After scoring tons in both innings of the fourth Test against South Africa, star batsman Ajinkya Rahane on Thursday replicated his good form in limited overs cricket.

The right-hander scored a 112-ball 114 for Mumbai against Rajasthan in the Vijay Hazare trophy.

Rahane arrived at the crease after Mumbai lost both their openers Shashank Singh and Shreyas Iyer in quick succession.

The 27-year-old's ton helped his side put up a competitive total of 301/9 in 50 overs.

The stylish batsman's knock comprised of 10 fours and two sixes.

However, Mumbai bowlers failed to defend the total as Rajasthan got to the target in 49 overs with five wickets in hand.

Rajat Bhatia top scored for the winners with an unbeaten 94, while Ashok Menaria played a fine hand of 86.

With India due to play an important ODI series against Australia in January, Rahane's superb form will be sweet music to the ears of India's team management.
