Karachi: Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has alleged that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is neglecting spot-fixing problems.

Having retired from international cricket two years ago, Akhtar insists that spot-fixing is still practiced by members of the national squad.

Akhtar further said that the competent and visionary cricketers in the team have not come forward to play, resulting in a situation where spot-fixing has become a common sight in the team.

Commenting on the situation his former team mates such as Mohammad Asif and Salman Butt have faced, Akhtar said that high-level cricket includes temptations and he too has been lured by such temptations but have always shunned them down, maintaining that the cricketers were not well paid in those days.

Akhtar said that he lacked proper guidance which drove him to wrong doings but despite several controversies during his career, he has maintained a healthy relationship with his team-mates.

Akhtar had been earlier banned for five years for publicly criticizing PCB.
