New Delhi: With 100 days to go for the ICC World Cup 2015 to kick off, veteran Indian batsman Ambati Rayudu on Thursday slammed his maiden ODI ton against Sri Lanka to further strengthen his case for the prestigious event.
Surprisingly, Rayudu was promoted ahead of Virat Kohli in the second ODI. The right-hander grabbed the opportunity with both hands and played a flawless innings. Skipper Virat Kohli was at the crease when Rayudu reached the three-figure mark off 101 balls.
When India came to bat, Ajinkya Rahane (8) was the first batsman to be dismissed post which Rayudu and Shikhar Dhawan (79) stitched a 122-run partnership for the second wicket.
Earlier, Angelo Mathews won the toss and decided to bat first. There wasn't much fight from most of the batsmen and it was the innings of Kumar Sangakkara (61) and the skipper himself (92) that the Lankans posted a total of 274 runs.
