Andhra sniff victory over Tripura

Visakhapatnam: Half centuries by Y Venugopala Rao and B Sumanth helped Andhra to declare their second innings at 271 for six on the penultimate day of the Plate 'A' Ranji Trophy match against Tripura at the ACA-VDCA stadium on Saturday.

Resuming the overnight score of 47 for three in 19 overs, not out batsmen Y Venugopala Rao hit 96 laced with fourteen fours and B Sumanth scored 62 including six fours.

Andhra who had 61-run lead in their first innings declared their second innings at 271 for six.

TK Chanda of Tripura claimed two wickets by conceding 34 runs followed by Rana Datt who took two for 79.

Tripura were in deep trouble when they lost five wickets quickly for 24 runs in 17.1 overs in their second innings.

T Atchuta Rao of Andhra was the most successful bowler who claimed four wickets by giving only nine runs and K Shahabuddin took one wicket for six runs.


Andhra First Innings: 235 all out in 61.5 overs.

Tripura First Innings: 174 all out in 83.4 overs

Andhra Second Innings :271 for six declared

Tripura Second innings : 24 for five
