Anil Kumble, Virat Kohli ideologies destined to clash: Harsha Bhogle

New Delhi: The BCCI selected Anil Kumble as coach of Indian Cricket Team, recognizing his vision which brought India success during his time as the Test captain too. However, it remains to be seen how Kumble's exemplary vision gets along with Virat Kohli's passion.

Though the current Indian Test captain has started channelizing his aggression for the benefit of his cricketing career, the new coach's inclusion will stir up things, hopefully for Kohli and other players' benefit.

"It is inevitable too that at some point there will be a clash of ideas between Kohli and Kumble. Sport is like that because there is never one way to play it and strong willed individuals will believe in their path," wrote Harsha Bhogle in a column for the Indian Express.

During the recent press conference, Jumbo talked about John Wright and Gary Kirsten, who worked in the background and brought success while also clarifying that he is not against Virat's aggression, though a line needs to be drawn.

Harsha added, "It is clear that those with strong character like Kohli, will get along well with Kumble, who will also work harder for the players in return. Kohli will benefit from it because he has already talked of not wasting energy on unnecessary actions and of staying more focused."

During the press conference, Virat Kohli had said:

"Kumble once told me that aggression didn’t mean telling the opponent what he thought of his parentage, it meant trying to get him out with every ball."
