Australia have four wickets left and they have an entire session to play on Sunday. Day 4 was once again dominated by England after Bell slammed a superb ton taking England’s lead past 300 runs and once the Australian openers were dismissed, England have been all over this game. England have an evident advantage in the first Test, unless Haddin along with Agar, pull off something spectacular on Sunday. Australia trail by 137 runs. Brad Haddin 11* (39b) Ashton Agar 1* (24b) ==================================================================================== Over 65 || Score 166/6 Australia’s resurgence suffered a major blow when Michael Clarke edged one to the keeper, Aleem Dar wasn’t sure if it carried to Prior which he later confirmed from the third umpire. Then came the twist. Once the third umpire gave his verdict, Clarke decided to review the decision. And the hot spot showed a faint edge from the bat, so after that review, Australians are once again left with no reviews. Steven Smith was dismissed of the very next delivery bowled by Graeme Swann as a ball that pitched outside the off-stump spun sharply and hit Smith on the pads, the replays confirmed it would have gone to hit the leg-stump. So the two set batsmen have been dismissed and Brad Haddin and Phillip Hughes have a massive task ahead of them. Swann got back into his grove as he dismissed Hughes for a duck after England made a successful review. The ball pitched in line and was hitting the stumps whereas Dharamsena thought it was pitched outside the leg-stump. Ashton Agar has been promoted up the order and Australia would want his dream debut to continue. Australia now trail by 145 runs with just four wickets in hand. SPD Smith lbw b Swann 17 (48b) MJ Clarke c Prior b Broad 23 (70b) ==================================================================================== Over 55 || Score 149/3 Michael Clarke and Steven Smith are in the process of stitching an extremely crucial partnership for Australia. The duo has added 25 runs for the fourth wicket. ==================================================================================== Over 45 || Score 132/3 After a well played innings, Chris Rogers was dismissed by James Anderson as he hit one straight to Ian Bell at short midwicket. Steven Smith is the new man and to give company to Michael Clarke who has looked unperturbed so far. CJL Rogers c Bell b Anderson 52 (121b) ==================================================================================== Over 36.4 || Score 111/1 TEA: Ed Cowan played some good strokes and Cook brought Root into the attack after Swann failed to bowl with rhythm. Root struck in his second over after Cowan edged one to Trott at first slip. Earlier Rogers survived after he successfully reviewed a decision where he was declared caught behind off Swann’s delivery. But since then, he has played extremely well and he scored his maiden Test fifty. Australia now trail by 200 runs with eight wickets in hand. EJM Cowan c Trott b Root 14 (43b) ==================================================================================== Over 25 || Score 84/1 Stuart Broad got the much-needed breakthrough for his side when Shane Watson missed on a straight delivery that hit his pads and even after the decision was reviewed by Watto, the hawk eye suggested it would hit the leg-stump. Ed Cowan is the new man in and the openers have got off their side to a great start with an 84-run stand. Australia need to capitalize on this opening stand. SR Watson lbw b Broad 46 (74b) ==================================================================================== Over 15 || Score 51/0 Excellent 50-run opening stand between Watson and Rogers who are looking extremely confident at the crease. Alastair Cook would be a worried man at the moment as two of his best bowlers, Anderson and Swann haven’t managed to get a breakthrough so far. Meanwhile the Aussies are up for a match here. Watson 29* (46b) Rogers 22* (44b) ==================================================================================== Over 7 || Score 28/0 The Australian openers have got Australia off to a decent start adding 28 runs for the first wicket by the end of the first session. Australia now trail by 283 runs. Shane Watson 18* (22b) Chris Rogers 10* (20b) ==================================================================================== ENGLAND, 2nd innings: Over 149.5 || Score 375/10 An excellent innings from Bell came to an end when he nicked one to Haddin off Mitchell Starc. Starch was bowling round the wicket which paid off. Bell has added a lot of substance to this innings for his side. Meanwhile Swann too edged one towards the slip cordon where Watson held on to a catch. Peter Siddle dismissed James Anderson in the same over who worked a ball straight to short midwicket. So Australia now need 311 runs to win the match. The umpire was convinced on this occasion as Broad received a standing ovation as he walked off the field. Graeme Swann is the new man in and England now lead by 300 runs and they might declare once they reach 350. SCJ Broad c Haddin b Pattinson 65 (148b) ==================================================================================== Over 137|| Score 344/6 Ian Bell has reached his 18th Test century with a single taken after a misfield at point. It has been an excellent knock from Bell whose superb effort has put England in the driving seat in this first Test at Trent Bridge. Stuart Broad has also completed his fifty courtesy a thick edge that went between first and second slip for a boundary off Pattinson. ==================================================================================== Over 133 || Score 326/6 The Day 3 belonged to Ian Bell who played a superb innings under pressure. He was supported by Broad, who survived a few close calls, including that nick, where he didn’t walk off the field. Broad and Bell have added unbeaten 108 runs for the seventh wicket. England now lead by 261 runs and Australia would want to start fresh on Day 4. ====================================================================================
