New Delhi: The biggest cricket event in the sub-continent, Asia Cup, is about to kick-start from February 25 in Bangladesh. Apart from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are the other participating teams in the tournament.

But just before the start of the Cup, Team India got the big blow when Indian skipper MS Dhoni was ruled out of the series due to a side strain, which he sustained during the Wellington Test against New Zealand. Now, in the absence of Dhoni, the new run-machine of Indian cricket Virat Kohli will lead the side.

As a skipper, it would be the biggest challenge for Kohli. Though the Delhi batsman had led the ODI team quite successfully in Zimbabwe last year, Asia Cup would be a real test of his captaincy skills.

If we go by the recent form of the Indian team then its certainly awful. They have lost their last two ODI series. First, they were defeated 0-2 against the Proteas in South Africa and then were thrashed 0-4 by the Kiwis in New Zealand. And now the injury of Dhoni has surely added more woes for the India team.

But, Kohli, himself has has been in excellent form in all formats of the game, which might give him some much needed confidence while leading the side. Few arm-chair critics are also of the view that it`s as an excellent opportunity for Kohli to prove his credentials as a skipper. So one thing is sure that it`s going to be an acid test for Kohli when he leads the side in the two-week long event.
