Asia Cup 2016: Last chance for Pawan Negi to make his debut ahead of World T20

New Delhi: Even after being picked for the recently concluded three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, Pawan Negi didn't manage to get a spot in the playing XI.

Though, Negi has been in news since breaking into the national team, the all-rounder has yet to made his international debut.

However, Negi still has a chance to play his first international before the all-important ICC World T20 which  kicks off in India from March 8.

The Asia Cup in Bangladesh, starts from 24 February, is the only tournament left for Dhoni to try the services of the 23-year-old, who can also hit some lusty blows down the order apart from bowling slow-left arm spin.

So don't be surprised if notorious on-field gambler Dhoni rests one of his premier spinners in Ravichandran Ashwin or Ravindra Jadeja to give a chance to Negi. This in turn can give the 23-year-old some confidence ahead of the World T20 on home soil.

Negi's orthodox bowling suits the slow and low sub-continent tracks and his ability to hit big shots from the word go, gives Dhoni a good enough reason to try the Delhi's diminutive cricketer, who played under Mahi during his stint with now defunct IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings.
