Asia Cup: India winning and not my batting position matters, says Suresh Raina

New Delhi: Playing down the hype around his batting position, Suresh Raina on Saturday stated that the team winning mattered more than anything else.

Of late there has been added focus on India's batting line-up, especially with the return of star left-hander Yuvraj Singh.

With Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli doing most of the scoring, players like Raina, Yuvraj and even MS Dhoni have got limited batting chances during twin series against Australia and Sri Lanka.

“Batting position does not matter, I want India to win. We have Yuvraj Singh in our side and he is not getting chances as well. Everyone in the team can bat on every spot,” Raina was quoted as saying by IBNLive at the unveiling of the team jersey of the new Indian Premier League franchise Gujarat Lions.

Raina showed his importance to the side with a match-winning knock in the 3rd T20I against the Aussies last month.

"Playing matches is more important than practice because during an international match there is pressure and there is a real feel to it,” said Raina.

The Uttar Pradesh batsman also highlighted the importance of the Asia Cup, stating it was ideal preparation for the all-important ICC WorldT20.
