“Martina is an amazing champion. It is a privilege for me to play with her,” said Sania.
The duo have conquered Melbourne after having already sealed their authority by winning WTA titles in Sydney and Brisbane earlier.
Sania went on to add that the event is special for her and that it has been like an Australasian Grand Slam for her.
“Australian Open has been special for me. It's like an Australasian Grand Slam.”
Meanwhile Sania's partner Martina Hingis stated that she hopes to defend the title here next year. She also thanked Sania and said without her she wouldn't have been here.
“Hope to defend our title here next year,” said Martina.
“Thanks, Sania. Without you I would not have been here. It was a tough tournament.”
Unfortunately on Friday she lost her mixed-doubles match later with partner Ivan Dodig.
