Australia vs India: Can Joel Paris justify Glenn McGrath's legendary No. 11 jersey?

New Delhi: Young pacer Joel Paris, who is set to make his One Day International debut for Australia in the series opener against India, will be honoured to wear Glenn McGrath’s number eleven on his jersey.

Paris, who plays for Western Australia in No. 3 shirt, seems quite excited about the fact that he will be wearing the maverick pacer's jersey number on his back.

“It’s an absolute honour to wear Glenn’s No.11 – hopefully I’ll do it justice.” McGrath was quoted as saying by Cricket Australia’s official website speaking to radio station 4BC.

“....loved the way he used to go about his cricket. McGrath was a massive one when I was growing up and in the last two or three years having Mitchell Johnson around the squad in WA for bits and pieces has been fantastic as well. He’s been great. I’ve just tried to learn as much as I can off those type of guys who have got so much experience about the game, added the pacer.

Now it would be interesting to see whether the young pacer manages to justify his jersey number.

First match of the five-match series between India and Australia will be played on Tuesday at WACA ground, Perth.

In the absence of premier bowler Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood will lead the hosts bowling line-up.
