Michael Hussey feels India have played some really good cricket against Australia

New Delhi: Former Australia batsman Michael Hussey feels that the current Indian side have played some really good cricket in the ongoing ODI series against Steve Smith's side.

India have lost four matches in a row in the ongoing ODI series against Australia and choked under pressure from a winning position in Canberra on Wednesday.

Hussey said the visitors have not fared badly despite the losses given the fact that they have scored 300 runs consistently.

"I think India have actually played some really good cricket. Look at all the four matches so far. They have consistently scored 300 runs every time, which is a very good effort.”

He added that India have given themselves a good chance to beat Australia by scoring runs.

"But by scoring 300 runs consistently they have given themselves a good chance to beat Australia. Unfortunately they have been too good chasing them down earlier in the series, but if India keeps on doing this, they will eventually win," he said.

With India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni facing the heat from several corners, he found the backing from Hussey. Dhoni went out for a duck on Wednesday and his wicket changed the course of the game which India was almost assured to win.

Dhoni's lack of finishing innings has been criticised of late and Hussey stated that he is the best player to handle such situations.

"I would back MS to do the job and he has been doing it for so long now. He is best suited to handle most situations out there. People forget that it is not easy job to do. You cannot just come in and smash 60 off 30 balls every single time. You have got good bowlers, and they have gotten smarter, and they know what Dhoni's strengths are, so things will not always happen the same way," Hussey said.
