New Delhi: It was a great day for Indian cricket fans as both the men's and the women's teams beat Australia in T20 internationals on Tuesday.

While MS Dhoni & Co defeated Steve Smith-led Australia by 37 runs in the first T20 international, Mithali Raj-led Indian women's team stunned Australia by pulling off a record chase.

After suffering a 4-1 defeat the five-match ODI series, the Men in Blue looked a different unit altogether in the shortest format of the game as they dismantled the hosts without much trouble.

Batting first, India posted a formidable total of 188 runs on board, courtesy a stupendous unbeaten 90-run knock from Virat Kohli. In reply, Australia never looked in rhythm and fell short of the target by 37 runs as Jasprit Bumrah picked three wickets.

On the other hand, Indian women's cricket team started their T20 campaign on a brilliant note too, as they chased their highest total in the slam bang version of the game.

Batting first, Australia's women's team had scored 140 runs. Despite losing their skipper early in the innings, the Indian team fought back and finally sealed the game in the 18th over.
