New Delhi: Middle-order batsman and reserve wicket-keeper of Team India, Dinesh Karthik believes that India have a very good team for the T20 World Cup with a strong batting line-up and quality spin bowling all-rounders in their ranks.
India have a strong batting line-up with Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni, Gautam Gambhir and Suresh Raina, who are considered to be the best in the business.
Though they would miss the services of opener Virender Sehwag, who opted out of the event owing to a shoulder injury, India have enough firepower in their batting department.
Karthik also said that India have quality spinners as well as part-time tweakers, who would come in handy if the pitches in the Caribbean Islands favour slow bowling.
"Our batting looks very strong, and if the wickets suit the spinners, definitely we have some quality spinners in the side," Karthik told Cricinfo. "The good part of the Indian team is that they have a lot of bowling allrounders and batting allrounders, which gives us a lot of options."
Karthik also squashed the buzz that IPL fatigue would destroy India’s chances as it did in the previous World Cup in England a year back with the difference between the two tournaments being just five days.
"There is so much cricket now, everybody wants to play the IPL, and everybody wants to play the World Twenty20 and represent the country," he said. "I`ve never looked at it as burden, I`ve looked at it as opportunities to do well."
On the other hand, the IPL, suggests the stumper, would help India do well in the World T20 which they had won in 2007.
"We have played so much cricket in the IPL, that we have seen pretty much every situation in T20s, so we are well equipped to put on a good show," opined the Delhi Daredevils stumper.
