New Delhi: Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar is hoping to get back in the groove with the crucial Mahatma Gandhi-Nelson Mandela series against South Africa starting from October 2. The pacer will want to get back into action after sitting out on the bench against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in the Test series respectively.
Bhuvi has been an important asset to the team in terms of batting as well down the order in recent times and he knows he can contribute further with the bat down the order.
Speaking to BCCI.tv, Bhuvi said that he has always worked on his batting and wants to keep contributing. “Batting is an aspect I always work on,” he said. “The team management also backs me in that regards and encourages me to bat more in the nets. If we want to play with five bowlers (in Test matches), it is very important for the lower order to score some runs. Every time our lower order has contributed with the bat, we have done well.”
In the last series against Sri Lanka, Bhuvi has been mentally preparing himself for his next opportunity. He said that he was planning ahead for the home season against the Proteas and wanted to improve further.
“It is up to the team management to decide who plays and who doesn’t. During the Sri Lanka series while I sat out, I was planning ahead for the home season, asking myself in what way I can improve to help the team in the coming matches,” Bhuvi said.
