BCCI Working committee to meet on Tuesday

BCCI Working committee to meet on TuesdayMumbai: The BCCI`s all-powerful Working Committee will meet here on Tuesday in the backdrop of the Indian team`s recent poor performance against England and Pakistan leading to calls for captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni`s head as well as that of chief coach Duncan Fletcher.

"It`s a regular meeting," informed BCCI sources, though matters like Fletcher`s future as the head coach could come up for discussion with the permission of president N Srinivasan.

At the previous meeting of the committee held on November 21 last year, a consensus could not be reached whether to bring Mohammed Azharuddin back under the parent body`s fold after the Andhra Pradesh High Court lifted the life ban imposed by the BCCI on the former India captain.

"The decision on Azharuddin`s future in BCCI has been deferred. The working committee was undecided on whether to appeal against the decision or not. The legal team is still studying the case and it will still take some time to reach a conclusion," a senior BCCI official had said then.

It remains to be seen whether the Working Committee can come to an agreement on this issue on Tuesday.

According to sources, the WC could decide on the venue of the IPL players` action set for February 3 though other Board sources have insisted that it is for the governing council of the Twenty20 League, headed by Rajeev Shukla, to take a call on the matter.

As per the earlier decision, the auction was to be held either in Chennai or Kolkata this month.

The interesting aspect about the auction would be whether any Pakistan player would be part of it as no player from that country has figured in the cash-rich league after the first edition held in 2008.

Though there have been reports that the governing council is also to meet here on Tuesday, Board sources insisted no such meeting has been scheduled.
