Bedi-led NCT cricket body files FIR against Sneh Bansal, Anil Khanna

New Delhi: The National Capital Territory Cricket Association, led by former spinner Bishen Singh Bedi, on Wednesday launched a 'Swacch DDCA Abhiyan' and filed an FIR against suspended DDCA President Sneh Bansal and secretary Anil Khanna for alleged misappropriation and siphoning off funds.

The FIR was lodged against Bansal and Khanna at the IP Extension Police Station following shocking revelations by an internal Audit and internal inquiry committee reports about the defalcation and siphoning off Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) funds by the duo.

As a mark of protest, legendary Bedi, Surinder Khanna and few other wielded brooms in front of the Feroze Shah Kotla Stadium today before proceeding to file the police complaint.

They were also joined by several young cricketers, club members, parents and cricket lovers.

During the protest Bedi also targetted the BCCI for turning a blind eye to the misuse of funds by officials of state associations under its control.

"Everything is open now. These guys were here for donkeys years and were involved in these malpractices. We had raised these issues earlier also but no body listened to us. Now it is out in the open that they siphoned off DDCA money instead of putting it in the development of cricket and cricketers of the region," Bedi told reporters.

"There was no accountability of the money which they (DDCA) got from BCCI. The BCCI is also to be blamed for the mess because it is not something which is happening for the first time. It has been happening here since the last 50 years. DDCA is just the tip of the iceberg," he said.

The all-powerful executive committee of the DDCA recently suspended its president Bansal and secretary Khanna on "allegations of misappropriation and siphoning off funds".

The move was taken after DDCA's acting head Chetan Chauhan and his faction had formed a four-member fact-finding committee chaired by Sunil Jain along with Siddharth Verma, Salil Seth and Vinod Garg to look into the alleged misappropriation.
