‘Big Bird’ Garner advises ‘giant’ Pak fast bowler Irfan to focus on skills and rhythm

Islamabad: Former West Indies fast bowler Joel Garner, who was the tallest of his generation of pace men, has advised towering Pakistan quick Mohammad Irfan, who stands at seven feet and one inch, to concentrate on skills and rhythm.

Garner, 61, was known as ‘Big Bird’ in world cricket during his playing days because of his 6’-8? height and massive frame, Dawn.com reports.

Garner said although he hasn’t seen Irfan bowl but would like to see the lanky fast bowler to concentrate on his skills and rhythm alongside working hard in the nets.

Irfan had made his Twenty20 debut against India on Tuesday and although his exact height is yet to be confirmed, he is said to be around 6’10”.
