New Delhi: Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday congratulated the Indian visually impaired cricket team for winning the World Cup for Blind at Cape Town after beating defending champions Pakistan in a thrilling final.
"India's maiden triumph in the Blind Cricket World Cup shows that these players are not only talented but have the ability to be the best in the world," said Sonowal in a press statement.
Holders Pakistan had set India a daunting target 390 runs and the Indian batsmen achieved the goal with two balls spare.
The Minister also said that the members of the World Cup winning team will be felicitated when they are back.
"The results of the team makes everyone in India proud of them. We will be felicitating the players once they are back in India," Sonowal informed.
The Sports Ministry had earlier conveyed its best wishes to the team before they left for South Africa and also extended support for the team.
