Sydney: Team India and Australia will lock horns in the first T20 international on Wednesday at ANZ Stadium.
As per the ticket sales, a record crowd is expected for the match that is set to break an 80-year old record of 58,466 people flocking to watch the Australia-England December Test match in Sydney.
This would be the first time the venue will be hosting an international contest since 2003.
`Everyone is interested in how it`s going to go in western Sydney because that`s not a traditional international venue,`` Cricket Australia spokesman Peter Young was quoted as saying by Sydney Morning Herald.
``It again demonstrates the massive drawing power of this format. It will be interesting to see whether it`s the same demographic, the same people who have been excited by the Thunder and the Sixers [in the Big Bash League], or whether it`s not. [Our] suspicion is it will be the same type of audience.`` reports the daily.
As of Tuesday morning, 60,378 tickets have been sold.
