Reincarnation films appeal to international audiences, says M R Shahjahan, whose directorial venture `Karma-Crime Passion Reincarnation’, is ready for release.

Mumbai, May 21: Reincarnation films appeal to international audiences, says M R Shahjahan, whose directorial venture `Karma-Crime Passion Reincarnation’, is ready for release. The film, which has foreign actors, works on two levels - philosophy and thrill, the director said.
There have been many reincarnation movies made in India. Such topics are now appealing to the international audience too because reincarnation has been scientifically proved, he said. The director said his movie was screened at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival last year and found international distributors. `Karma....` will release worldwide in September-October. The film will be released in India only after the current multiplex-producers stand off on revenue sharing ends, Shahjahan said. "It is an English film and there is no use releasing it in single screens. It is a multiplex film." Shahjahan has earlier directed `Afsana Pyar Ka`, featuring Aamir Khan and Neelam, and later Salman Khan starrer `Bulund`. However, `Buland` was shelved after 60 per cent of the shooting was completed. American actress Alma Sarcasi plays the protagonist, while German actress Claudia Ciesla enacts the character of the protagonist`s previous birth. Shahjahan said the film has multi-national cast and crew but is produced in India. It has won Best Feature Film award in Marbella International Film Festival, Spain and Best Costume and Art Direction at Corinthian Film Festival, Greece. The director said Alma plays Anna, who sees visions of a murder that took place in the woods in Ooty 30 years ago, the moment she sets her foot in the city. Anna questions some people who then consider her as a threat. The nightmares occur frequently and with more specificity. Vikram, played by Carlucci Weyant, helps Anna to resolve the murder that had indeed taken place, the director said. The director said ``Karma....` has a visual thrill which would be liked by people. To a question on the title, he said international audiences identify with the term Karma. "But, I could not have taken this name only because the title is registered with Subhash Ghai," he said.
