ICC's new problem: T20 'honey-trap'Zeenews Sports Bureau

New Delhi: ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit is leaving nothing to chance ahead of T20 World Cup to be held from September 18 to October 7 in Sri Lanka as they were in Delhi to probe the role of a pimp because of her closeness to top bookies in the country.

A section of media reported that Delhi-based bookies were set for Colombo to fix matches during the T20 tournament.

ACU officials had contacted the anti-extortion cell of the crime branch which had arrested the pimp recently and is also investigating the Hansie Cronje match-fixing scandal, Times of India reported on Tuesday.

The pimp, who was recently arrested by Delhi Police crime branch, was scheduled to leave for a Colombo casino along with eight girls on March 31 but the plan was cancelled at the last moment, the report added.

Amid reports of bookies planning to target the Twenty20 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka later in the year, the Sri Lankan Cricket Board said that it would take "maximum precautions" to ensure that "unwanted elements" were not involved in the game.

Reports in the media said that bookies could assemble in the island nation during the September 18 to October 7 Twenty20 World Cup to fix matches and to counter that the SLC have made elaborate plans.
