London: England batsman Ravi Bopara is ready to utilize the one-day series against the West Indies and Australia, starting on Saturday, as a platform to impress the selectors, and make a return to the Test team.
Bopara said he wants to perform well in the one-day series against the West Indies and Australia.
With Kevin Pietersen gone, Bopara will be a central figure in England`s bid to overturn the power hitters from the Windies in a three match Natwest series.
“It would be great if I could score heavily in this series and the Australian series that follows. It would put me in a good place. That would be ideal and I would love to be playing Test cricket for England again,” Bopara said.
“There are no guarantees, I`ve got to prove myself and score runs. My one-day performances definitely count more. What I do here is in front of the selectors eyes and in front of the coach, the captain and the rest of the players,” he added.
“What I do here is more important in terms of the form they will see me in and other stuff. The bowling, the attitude and everything. It is much more important what I do here,” he said.
