Can Kohli become No. 1 ODI batsman?

In-form batsman Virat Kohli can get to the number one position in ICC ODI batsmen rankings in case if he continues his good run on the Lanka soil.

Hambantota: Indian vice-captain Virat Kohli scored his 12th ODI ton against Sri Lanka which was his fourth ton in his last five outings. Kohli scored 106 runs from 113 balls against the hosts who once again failed to decode the talismanic right-hander. List of Kohli’s ODI centuries» This was Kohli’s fourth ODI ton against Sri Lanka. Three of his last four centuries have come against Sri Lanka. He scored his maiden ODI ton, 107 runs off 114 balls against Sri Lanka at the Eden Gardens in 2009. Kohli’s 9th ODI ton - 133 runs off 86 balls came against Sri Lanka at Bellerive Oval in Hobart, Australia He scored his 10th ton - 108 runs off 120 balls against Sri Lanka at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Bangladesh He scored his 12th ODI ton - 106 runs off 113 balls against Sri Lanka at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium, Sooriyawewa, Hambantota. He has learned one thing from his seniors and that is to put a price on his wicket. It is not that the debating societies did not appreciate his talent on previous occasions, but these are the memorable innings which have answered all the remaining ifs and buts surrounding him. Kohli is currently ranked no. 3 in ICC rankings with 846 points after Hashim Amla (871) and AB de Villiers (851). In case if he plays more of such knocks in the five-match series, he can possibly become the no. 1 batsman in ODIs.
