MUMBAI INDIANS INNINGS
Over 20, Score 167/7: What was predicted to be a ‘dead rubber’ has become one of the most incredible matches of the Champions League Twenty20. Dinesh Karthik played a gem of an innings for the Mumbai Indians (74 from 45) so did Kieron Pollard (31 from 17) but Suresh Raina took a blinder running to his front from long-on that turned the tide in Chennai’s favour as they defeated Mumbai Indians by 6 runs. Nonethless, it has been a fascinating match!
Over 15, Score 100/4: Rohit Sharma once again was well set, but couldn’t convert it into a match-winning knock. He scored 32 runs from 26 balls and once he was dismissed by Morkel, Dinesh Karthik took the charge by playing some massive hits down the ground. After 15 overs, Dinesh Karthik was batting at 43 from 34 balls and with him is the mighty Pollard who is happy to stay off-strike as long as Karthik can continue to clear the ropes.
Over 10, Score 58/2: Rohit Sharma has so far played some magnificent strokes while chasing the formidable total. He hasn’t hit a boundary so far and has hit three sixes off Morkel and Ravindra Jadeja. Karthik and Sharma have added 37 runs in the last five overs. Sharma is looking dangerous. Mumbai Indians would want him to continue finding boundaries and with Pollard still to come, this match is not over yet!
Over 5, Score 21/2: The crowd had gathered to watch Tendulkar play probably for the last time at Johannesburg. Hilfenhaus dismissed the Little Master as Raina took a sharp catch at backward point. Dwayne Smith perished to another Hilfenhaus delivery which he hit high and Murali Viajy at third man took a very easy catch. Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik are at the crease.
So the Mumbai Indians need to chase down a formidable score of 173 runs. Faf du Plessis (52 from 33), Murali Vijay (39 from 25) and skipper MS Dhoni (35 from 19) got them to a competitive total and we are up against a thrilling match here!
