Brief summary:

The Chennai Super Kings are known to chase formidable totals and even though Brisbane Heat added 50 runs in the last three overs to reach a respectable score, it was predicted to be a cakewalk for a champion side like the CSK. And so it was as the top order made some significant contributions. Michael Hussey in particular was the star of the match and with each passing match, Mr. Cricket is getting more consistent and his value addition to the Dhoni-led side is enormous. Dhoni once again entertained the local crowd who would have wanted him to hit the winning runs with a six – which is nothing new for him. The competition might get tougher in the semis, but they have already rung the alarm bells for other teams with their formidable show so far in the series.

TOSS: MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Chennai Super Kings have played like champions so far in the tournament and they would want to continue to topple their opponents. In their previous match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Suresh Raina played a match-winning knock which was followed by a late onslaught from MS Dhoni where he slammed the fastest ton in CL T20 history off just 16 balls. The only concern for them would be the form of opener Murali Vijay else apart from that, they have been spot on so far.

On the other hand, Brisbane Heat are yet to make an impact in the tournament and it won’t be easy for them to match with the pace and class of the CSK outfit. Their batting hasn’t clicked so far and players like James Hopes and Daniel Cristian will have to make significant contributions if they entertain any chances of putting up a fight against the Dhoni-led side.

Teams:

Brisbane (From): James Hopes(c), Joe Burns, Peter Forrest, Ben Cutting, Daniel Christian, Chris Lynn, Chris Hartley(w), Chris Sabburg, Matthew Gale, Nathan Hauritz, Alister McDermott, Cameron Gannon, Alex Kemp, Kemar Roach, Bradley Ipson, Dominic Michael

Chennai (From): Murali Vijay, Michael Hussey, Suresh Raina, S Badrinath, MS Dhoni(w/c), Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohit Sharma, Chris Morris, Albie Morkel, Jason Holder, Faf du Plessis, Imtiyaz Ahmed, Wriddhiman Saha
