The main battle in the second semi-final match of the CLT20 will be between Mumbai Indians batsmen and Trinidad and Tobago bowlers. If the bowling line up of T&T is their strength, MI have a depth in their batting.
Let’s have a look at the key players of Mumbai Indians who can play a crucial role from bat to give the team an edge over T&T.
Sachin Tendulkar: Though the Master Blaster has not performed well so far in the Champions League Twenty20, but one can’t ignore the fact that he is capable of playing a match-winning knock. And who knows may be his best might come in this semi-final against Trinidad and Tobago. In the last three innings, he has scored 15, 5 and 0 respectively. It will be interesting to watch his performance today.
Rohit Sharma: The skipper of Mumbai Indians would be one of the key players today. Rohit has been in good form and so far has scored 44, 20 and 51 CLT20. His last unbeaten knock of 51 came at a time when the team needed it the most. To secure their spot in the semis MI were required to chase the target in 14.2 overs, and they achieved their target in 13.2, courtesy Rohit. Rohit is simply the batsman to watch out for.
Dwayne Smith: While playing for Mumbai Indians, West Indian Smith, generally opens the innings alongside Sachin Tendulkar. Aggressive and powerful hitter of the ball, Smith can hit the ball all over the park. His wide range of shots makes him a dangerous customer. His all-round skills give the team a perfect balance. In the last match against Perth Scorchers, he played a crucial knock up the order to give his team a perfect start.
Kieron Pollard: Another West Indian all-rounder has a special place in the Mumbai Indians team. He has the ability to change the course of the game single-handedly. With the bat, he can do wonders, especially while playing in the shortest format of the game. Be it spinners or fast bowlers, he has the ability to smack them out of the park with an ease. His useful bowling and exceptional fielding is an added advantage to MI. So he can prove to be a trump card in today’s match.
