Mumbai, May 01: After being named as one of the most bankable Bollywood stars, actor Irrfan Khan’s career is literally going places! Post the roaring success and worldwide acclaim of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, Irrfan has truly become a global celebrity. The versatile actor, who is struggling with a twisted ankle all thanks to ‘Paan Singh Tomar’ (where he plays a steeplechase runner), is all set to portray a wildlife photographer in Italo Spinelli’s ‘Choli Ke Peeche’. The actor will start working on the project, once he wraps up the shoot of ‘Paan Singh Tomar.’ With nudity and risqué being the integral subject of ‘Choli Ke Peeche,’ actress Nandana Sen has already walked out of the international project and on Irrfan’s recommendation, South Indian actor Shriya Reddy has been roped in. According to Irrfan, “I saw her in a film and was blown away by her face. I think she`d suit the role more than Nandana whose features are too sharp to play a tribal woman.” When asked whether the southern actress is okay with nude scenes, Irrfan said, “The director can get a body double for that shot.” Talking about ‘Choli Ke Peeche’, which is based on Mahashweta Devi’s story, the actor said, “It was the eminent litterateur Mahashweta Devi`s story that first attracted me to this project. I`ve always admired her work and would do anything to be a part of her creativity.” The actor who is gung-ho about his new role of Bengali photographer in ‘Choli Ke Peeche’ and his cosmopolitan looks says, “It`s not only because I played a Bengali so effectively in Mira Nair`s ‘The Namesake’. A lot of people in Bengal think I`m Bengali. And when I go South there I`m taken to be a pucca South Indian. So I guess my looks render themselves to many readings. I like that.” Undoubtedly, Irrfan is a one such Bollywood actor who has global appeal!
