After doing extremely well in the series so far, Northern Knights were mauled by Hobart Hurricanes in the previous match where the Daniel Flynn-led side suffered a 86-run defeat. The openers had done a good job for the Knights in the first four matches which they won convincingly and it was only in the fifth match where their middle-order was exposed to a 178-run total posted by the Hurricanes which proved to be a hard nut to crack for them.

Northern Knights were ripped apart by quality seam bowling from Ben Hilfenhaus and Doug Bollinger. Kane Williamson has been their key batsmen so far in the series and they would want him to once again score a formidable knock.

Kings XI Punjab are undoubtedly one of the favourites to win the tournament. They are a batting powerhouse with batsmen like Virender Sehwag, Glenn Maxwell, David Miller and skipper Bailey. Even in the bowling, they have some good bowlers, most of which are promising youngsters from India. In case if KXIP win the match, they can advance to the semis.
