New Delhi: Delhi's Unmukt Chand showed his solidity against Himachal Pradesh as his side booked the finale of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Unmukt has grown as a player in the Delhi side and has played a pivotal role in the team. Unmukt's contribution has paid dividends in the most crucial phase for Delhi.
Unmukt smashed an unbeaten 80 runs against HP and this innings came after his important 118 in the quarters. Delhi will bank on the youngster once again in the final and his presence has lifted up the mood in the team.
According to a report in The Hindu, after the match against HP, Unmukt stated that he is one of the mainstays of Delhi now.
He added that since Delhi are a young side, it is important for him alongside Gautam Gambhir and the rest of the seniors to step up and carry on whenever anyone is set at the crease.
The 22-year-old also claimed that it was important for Delhi to have Shikhar Dhawan and Ishant Sharma in the team. Unmukt said that Ishant's poresence makes a difference in the team given his speed. He also lauded Shikhar and said it was nice to bat with him after a long time and he believes that the left-hander can rip any bowling attack.
Unmukt's experience has helped skipper Gautam Gambhir as Delhi look to go big for the coveted trophy.
