Sydney: Sri Lanka cricket team coach Graham Ford is hopeful that his wards will put up a better performance against the Australians in the third Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in Sydney.

Speaking after his side’s innings and over 200 run loss to the Australians in the Melbourne Test, Ford said that he has in past often spoken of Sri Lanka’s fighting spirit and admitted to being extremely disappointed by the result.

The Age quoted him, as saying that in the coming days, the team would talk about the need to show a more character during the remaining part of the tour.

Sri Lanka trail 2-0 in the three-match series and are desperately seeking replacements in the battle against Australia`s fired-up pace attack led by Mitchell Johnson, who claimed 4-63 and 2-16 in Melbourne.

The left-arm quick, who caused the injuries to Sangakkara and Prasanna Jayawardene, said tourists simply didn`t like it short on Australia`s bouncy pitches and were intimidated.
