Cricket fraternity lauds world champions Australia

New Delhi: Australia dominated the world stage once again as they blew away shabby New Zealand in the final of the ICC World Cup 2015 in Melbourne on Sunday. Australia chased down New Zealand's paltry target of 184 runs by seven wickets to bag their fifth World Cup in the history of the game.

Australia had earlier won the coveted trophy in 1989, 1999, 2003 and 2007. They have been excellent in the whole tournament and were terrific since the knock-out stage began. Michael Clarke who played his last ODI of his career scored a well made 74 runs and was well supported by Steve Smith who made an unbeaten 56.

The crowd of 93,000 witnessed another great effort from their home team.

James Faulkner bagged the man-of-the-match award for picking up three wickets.

Australia's Mitchell Starc won the player of the tournament for picking 22 wickets.

Australia's win ensured a second back to back World Cup victory for a host team after India became champions in 2011. The cricket fraternity lauded world champions Australia for their excellent show.

They expressed their views through social micro-blogging site, Twitter.
