Cricketing fraternity prays for critically injured Phil Hughes

New Delhi: The entire cricketing fraternity offered support and solidarity to Australian batsman Phil Hughes who is in a critical condition after being hit on his head by a bouncer.

Players, past and present from across the globe expressed their sentiments on micro-blogging site Twitter.

The left-hander was hit by Sean Abbott's bouncer on Tuesday in a Sheffield Shield game played between New South Wales and Southern Australia. He immediately collapsed on the ground after being hit.

It wasn't a pleasant sight at the Sydney Cricket Ground and the play was suspended temporarily due to the incident.

An ambulance arrived at the ground and Hughes was rushed to the hospital on a stretcher. Hughes was in contention to play the first Test against India at Brisbane with skipper Michael Clarke still recovering from a hamstring injury.
