London: Young Pakistan pace sensation Mohammed Aamer is raring to go against Australia in the first Test match at Lord’s on Tuesday, and believes that the match, which is being played at the home of cricket, marks the beginning of a new chapter in his country’s cricket history.
Aamer, who has already become Pakistan’s pace spearhead in one-day cricket, said he is excited to play his first Test at Lord’s and that too against a formidable team like Australia.
“We are beginning a new era in Pakistan Cricket which I am really excited about,” said Aamer.
“I’m really excited about playing my first Test match at Lord’s against the Aussies. They are an excellent side with a lot of experience and some fresh faces,” the 18-year old speedster told PakPassion.net.
Aamer has taken 21 wickets in the first eight Test matches of his career, including eight wickets in the two Tests against the Kangaroos during the winless tour Down Under in January February, and is looking to improve on that record, but has his feet grounded.
The teenage pace sensation is aware that that success in the T20 games against Australia should not be taken as a guarantee for a good result in the Test series also.
“The T20s went well for the team and me personally. However, Test cricket as we all know is a completely different game. Of course, the confidence we were able to gain from the T20s will be an advantage for us,” said Aamer.
